“Hi! My name is Kiyoshi. I live in White Plains, New York, and as you can see, I’m a Japanese Chin. Compared to other breeds, we Chin are small in number as well as in size.
“I have Chin friends all over the USA and we chat with each other on facebook. My bff is Toby Fosterdog in NY, and Sam, Cubbie & Kandi Yuuki in RI, and Samurai Chin in MA, and Scampers, Princess Jazmine, and Skye Butler in FL, Jetta the Pest in TX, and Ginger Chin Hooks in AL, and Wasabi Casper in IL, and...I don’t think I’ll have room to list all of them! As you can see, I stay busy making Chin friends. By the way, Jetta is a German Shepherd Dog and Princess Jazmine is a Pekingese but, that’s okay, both are beautiful girls!”
The Japanese Chin itself is like a piece of rare Oriental art. A centuries-old breed, a member of AKC's Toy Group, this delightful, creative and entertaining little dog exhibits cat-like behaviors. Its one purpose is to serve man as a companion dog and the Japanese Chin does this to perfection.
The Artist: Martha Hooks, a Southerner by birth and choice, has always had dogs in her life. Her memories of going to field trials with her dad as well as time spent in conformation rings with her Long Coat Chihuahuas helped expand her knowledge of canine anatomy, breed traits and personalities. She paints full time and commissions are accepted, time permitting. Of course, her favorite subjects wear fur coats year around.
