"Sing Ling" ... Pekingese
--from original acrylic on gallery wrap canvas, 16” x 16” x 1.5”
Sing Ling came into Genny’s life when there was no light. The Angels had taken her husband and her heart was broken. A miracle happened when a little black Pekingese named Sing Ling entered Genny’s life. Sing Ling gave Genny a reason to get up every morning and put one foot in front of the other. She was there through the good and the bad times. She licked Genny’s tears and snuggled by her side. Sing Ling became Queen of the house! Slowly the two of them reached out to help rescue other Pekingese. Sing Ling accepted each and every one of them and they all loved her. Sing Ling and Genny grew old together, side by side. All too soon the time came for Genny to say goodbye but Sing Ling will live in Genny’s heart forever. Genny takes comfort in knowing that Sing Ling is in good hands with family and they will wait patiently for the day Genny will join them.
The Artist: Martha Hooks, a Southerner by birth and choice, has always had dogs in her life. Her memories of going to field trials with her dad as well as time spent in conformation rings with her Long Coat Chihuahuas helped expand her knowledge of canine anatomy, breed traits and personalities. She paints full time and commissions are accepted, time permitting. Of course, her favorite subjects wear fur coats year around.
