FACES OF CHIN, “Sophie” ... Japanese Chin
Sophie is the 3rd in the series "Faces of Chin"
--from original 16” x 16” Acrylic on Gallery Wrap Canvas
At about age six months, Sophie became a JCCARE girl when picked up as a stray in Texas in May 2007.  Known as Keiko, the Texas Red Menace, she was fostered by Carolle Cox, Theresa Leatherwood, and Dana Baldinger.  It only took Mary Favors one look and a heartbeat to know this beautiful sable and white girl was the Chin for her--all attitude and full of sass!  It was love at first sight for both Mary and Sophie!  Susan Willcox did the home inspection to make sure Mary could provide this drama queen with a new home which met all of her special needs!  Sophie has “Houdini” escape artist qualities and can climb fences.  Given the chance, she probably could leap tall buildings.

Sophie has a couple of Chin sisters, Josephine and Emma.  Sister Zelda is waiting at Rainbow’s Bridge.  Not only does Sophie have a permanent home with Mary, she has earned the designation of Mary’s “heart” chin.  While we are not sure of Mary’s pack number, there is no doubt that Sophie is Number One in the Favors’ Pack!

The Artist:  Martha Hooks, a Southerner by birth and choice, has always had dogs in her life.  Her memories of going to field trials with her dad as well as time spent in conformation rings with her Long Coat Chihuahuas helped expand her knowledge of canine anatomy, breed traits and personalities.  She paints full time and commissions are accepted, time permitting.  Of course, her favorite subjects wear fur coats year around.
