FACES OF CHIN, “Sparky” ... Japanese Chin
Sparky is the 5th in the series "Faces of Chin"
--from original 16” x 16” Acrylic on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Sparky was purchased from a pet store by Paul and Regina Gaffke in 2004.  His human pack grew to include two Aunts and a Grandmother, all of whom doted on Sparky.  The wise one, Grandmother, insisted Sparky needed to add more canines to his pack, so along came Beejg, Cindy and Joey, from a Japanese Chin breeder.  They were followed by rescues, Nicky, from Luv A Chin then Obi Won Kanobi, Elwood and Maizi from JCCARE, Inc., and Boots (aka Darth Kitty), a little Tuxedo kitten who was rescued from traffic on a busy road!  Sparky had a big pack and he took care of everyone --human, canine and feline!  Sparky had a very high IQ and could quickly solve the dog puzzles.  As you have probably guessed, Sparky's Mom, Regina Gaffke, became a part of JCCARE, working with Nancy H. Derrig.  Sparky, his human Dad and Grandmother, and Obi are waiting at the Rainbow Bridge for the rest of this wonderful pack!

The Artist:  Martha Hooks, a Southerner by birth and choice, has always had dogs in her life.  Her memories of going to field trials with her dad as well as time spent in conformation rings with her Long Coat Chihuahuas helped expand her knowledge of canine anatomy, breed traits and personalities.  She paints full time and commissions are accepted, time permitting.  Of course, her favorite subjects wear fur coats year around.
